Kit

Flat-Pack Kit, Ready-Assembled Kit, Saw Kit

Designed for 90mm square newel posts

Suitable for 90mm square posts, painted posts with slight tolerance, and lightly rounded or chamfered corners. Works with suitable hand saws that have a wide blade around 1mm thick and produces a kerf of around 1.5mm.

Not suitable for half-newel posts fixed against a wall, badly twisted or heavily out-of-square posts, or where there is not enough space to use a saw. It does not drill dowel or spigot holes and does not decide where your stair kit requires the cut.

TrueNewel is a cutting guide only. It does not tell you where your newel post should be cut. Always follow the instructions supplied with your staircase refurbishment kit, and seek advice from a qualified joiner if you are unsure. Measure carefully before cutting — once cut, the post cannot be restored.

TrueNewel 90 is a saw guide designed to help you cut an existing 90mm square stair newel post more squarely during stair refurbishment.

No. This launch version is cut-only. It does not drill the dowel or spigot hole.
This version is designed for 90mm square newel posts. It should usually work with painted posts and lightly rounded corners, but it may not suit badly twisted or heavily out-of-square posts.
No. This version is not intended for half-newel posts fixed against a wall.
Not necessarily. You can use your own suitable hand saw if it has a blade around 1mm thick and produces a kerf of around 1.5mm. The saw kit is simply for customers who want the recommended saw included.
TrueNewel 90 is designed as a disposable one-project guide. The acrylic guide faces help improve wear resistance for the main cuts in a typical staircase refurbishment, but the guide is still sacrificial because the saw blade runs through it during use.
No. It helps guide the saw, but the result depends on correct positioning, secure fixing, saw choice and careful use.
No. Your stair refurbishment kit instructions should tell you where the post needs to be cut. TrueNewel helps guide the saw after you have measured and positioned it correctly.
TrueNewel 90 is the first version. Other sizes may follow if customers request them.
